The world of sailing holidays will be showcased at Boot Düsseldorf, the world's largest indoor boat show, taking place from January 20t to 28th. This year's edition expects around 240,000 visitors from over 60 countries, filling the 16 halls (a total of 220,000 square meters) with over 1,500 exhibitors representing 68 different nations.
Simone Morelli, president of the charter sector for Confindustria Nautica and NSS Group CEO, reports that Italy's charter industry will be well represented at Boot Düsseldorf 2024. In halls 13 and 14, the event will present the entire world of nautical tourism and boat holidays. NSS Charter and Cala dei Sardi will showcase the beauty of northeastern Sardinia, the Tuscan Archipelago, the Amalfi Coast, the Aeolian Islands, and Italian-style charters in the Caribbean. The exhibition will feature conferences and interviews on various topics, with a focus on sustainability and environmental respect, reflecting the increased sensitivity toward eco-friendly vacations. Today, there has indeed been an increased sensitivity towards the environment, and the percentage of people seeking sustainable vacations has risen from 56% to 68%. The protection of the marine ecosystem will be the recurring theme at this year's Boot, featured on the stage of each pavilion.
Düsseldorf is the leading trade fair for the nautical charter sector, especially as the first event of the year when foreign clients begin booking summer holidays. January is a crucial month, and Boot becomes decisive for charter companies presenting their offers to the public. Mediterranean destinations benefit from long summers and sailing seasons that often start in April and last until October.
According to Morelli, post-pandemic data shows excellent health for the Italian nautical charter, with strong recovery. Sardinia, Tuscany, Campania, and Sicily remain the most known and requested destinations, especially by travelers from abroad. Sailing holidays are seen as a source of relaxation, essential for rest and stress relief, providing a unique opportunity to connect with and respect nature through sustainable navigation.
Visiting Boot Düsseldorf is valuable not only for those choosing vacation destinations and boats but also for nautical enthusiasts seeking investment opportunities. The recent trend is towards yacht management. In hall 13, over 20 exhibitors will showcase yacht management options, reflecting the growing popularity of financing models where boat owners purchase a vessel and have it managed by a charter company, ensuring an annual income—a beneficial investment for both the owner and the charter company.
